U-684 had been trailing the Olympic class ocean liner since the hospital ship had entered the Falkland Sound sea passage, sandwiched between the HMS Crystal Heart and the HMS Britannia as the trio steamed out the the other side of the passage with the sub close behind.
“HMHS Titanic II is in range, 200 yards of the port bow. Load torpedo tubes 1-4 and fire on my mark.” The captain ordered, looking through the periscope as the large liner entered a developing thick blanket of mist.

‘’Oi! Did you hear about Mount Longdon?’’ Asked Jonathan shouted over to Lewis as he scanned the waters quarter starboard.
‘’Yes! Good on the lads. We’re now one step closer to Port Stanley.’’ Lewis shouted in reply, scanning the quarter port as he did. ‘’Jonathan? What you gonna do when this is over? When we’re back in England?’’ Lewis asked, looking through his binoculars.
‘’Me. I’m gonna take you down the pub and have a nice cold pint the day we get back.’’ Jonathan replied. HMHS Titanic II’s prow sliced through icey South Atlantic as she was lead away from the Islands, unaware of the submarine stalking her.

‘’Tubes 1-4 armed and ready sir’’ said the lieutenant, the forward torpedo tubes opening. Seconds passed as the captain looked around at his crew before looking back through the periscope. ‘’Fire!’’
